Katy and I recently went on an exciting two-day site visit to Cascais, Portugal.
We used Cascais for a previous event and it worked really well, so we were delighted when our wonderful clients chose it as the destination for their next International Sales Meeting in 2025.
We landed at Lisbon Airport in the late afternoon, it was glorious to feel that wave of heat as soon as we stepped off the plane, we grabbed an ice-cold Starbucks frappe and made our way to Cascais!
The client asked for a hotel with a ‘resort feel’, along with plenty of outdoor space; the Onryia Quinta da Marinha Hotel ticks all of the boxes. Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean, the Sintra Mountains and the upmarket town of Cascais, it boasts an 18-hole golf course as well as a wild swimming lake.
If they had opted for a hotel closer to the town, the 5* Pestana Cidadela would have been our recommendation; it’s a 5-minute walk into the centre of Cascais, it overlooks the Marina and has its own inbuilt Art District.
The morning after, we met with the clients to discuss theming and creative ways in which we can add more value to the event. The purpose of the meeting is to bring everyone together from around the world, to reflect on the successes of the past year, then to motivate and inspire the teams for the year ahead!
In the afternoon, we had a full tour of the Onryia, there was another conference being held at the time, so it was great for them to see it all in action, as well envision potential branding opportunities. The biggest showstopper we saw was the lake house, it’s a 5-minute walk across the grounds and is the perfect venue to host a WOW Gala Dinner without having to leave the hotel.
In the evening, we went for dinner at Monte Mar - a fish restaurant which is owned by the Onryia and is a convenient 4-minute drive away. We used it for an off-site dinner at the last event we did in Cascais as it’s in a great location right next to the sea (a very instagrammable sunset!), it can be booked for exclusive use and the menu is full of fresh, delicious seafood as well as meat and veggie options. Alternatively, there are so many fabulous restaurants in the centre of Cascais to choose from, serving a variety of cuisines.
It was definitely a successful site-visit, our clients were impressed with all that Cascais has to offer as the destination for their next International Sales Meeting…
